The Chu-Kuang Express derives its name from the Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju (Do not forget the experience in Ju) patriotic campaign in the mid-1960s. The first generation of the Chu-Kuang Express railcars was painted in an elegant white and lined with light blue dumbbell-shaped stripes. The luxurious interior and service ushered in a new era of deluxe train services in the 1970s.
The Chu-Kuang Express Passenger Cars in the holding of the Preparatory Office of National Railway Museum include TRA’s first cars manufactured by Nippon Sharyo and Hitachi, Ltd., the SP32850 Class (No. SP32865). It also includes the SP32600 Class (No. SP32616), made by Tang Eng Iron Works after Japan severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan. A special collection item, No. SP32773, is a second class passenger car modified from the DC32750 class sightseeing train cars and the No. DC32751 dining cars after the dining service was terminated.
